অথবা, কোন বিষয় নিয়ে পড়াশোনা করলে, প্রশিক্ষণ নিলে কোন পেশায় নিযুক্ত হওয়া যাবে?, অথবা আপনার কাঙ্ক্ষিত পেশায় নিযুক্ত হতে কি করতে হবে?, কোথায় যেতে হবে?, কি জানতে হবে? ইত্যাদি।

যাদেরকে আপনি অভিজ্ঞ বলে মনে করেন, বা আপনার ওপর যার অধিকার বা দায়িত্ব রয়েছে, অনেক ক্ষেত্রেই তাদের একটি সমস্যা থাকে। আর তা হোলও যখন ব্যাক্তিগত পরামর্শের প্রয়োজন হয়, তখন তারা আপনাকে গঠনমূলক ( ক্রিয়েটিভ বললে বুঝতে পারবেন! ) পরামর্শ দিতে পারেন না। অর্থাৎ, আমরা বেশিরভাগ সময় এমন পরামর্শ দেই, যাতে ঐ ব্যাক্তিটির যার কিনা যথাযথও পরামর্শের প্রয়োজন, তার নিজস্ব চিন্তা-ভাবনার দুয়ার বন্ধ হয়ে যায়। 

অথচ, এক্ষেত্রে পরামর্শ দাতার উচিৎ, যদি তার কাছে পরামর্শ প্রার্থীর জন্য উপযুক্ত পরামর্শ না থাকে, তবে নিঃসংকোচে নিজের অপারগতা স্বীকার করা, এবং ঐ বিষয়ে যার ভালো অভিজ্ঞতা বা ধারণা রয়েছে তার সন্ধান দেয়া। আর যদি সেরকম চেনা জানা কেও না থাকে, তবে তাকে নিরুৎসাহিত করার পরিবর্তে, ঐ বিষয়ে নিজ থেকে আরও সময় নিয়ে ভাবার পরামর্শ দেয়া উচিৎ। 

কিন্তু বাস্তবে, আমরা সব ক্ষেত্রেই পাণ্ডিত্য জাহির করতে পছন্দ করি। অথচ এটা চিন্তা করি না যে, আমাদের এরকম আচরণের ফলে সেই মানুষটির ভবিষ্যৎ সুগঠনের সম্ভাবনা কতটা ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ হতে পারে, অথবা তার জীবনের সেই প্রত্যাশা পূরণের পথে সে কতটা পিছিয়ে যাবে। 

এবার একটি উদাহরণ দিয়ে বিষয়টাকে বোধগম্য করার চেষ্টা করি। 

একটি ছেলের ছোটবেলা থেকেই ছবি আঁকতে খুব ভালো লাগতো। এতে তার ব্যাপক আগ্রহ ছিলও। সে যা কল্পনা করতো, অবিকল তা-ই আঁকতে পাড়ত। ছেলেটির এতো আগ্রহ দেখে, তার বাবা তাকে আরও ভালো ছবি আঁকা শিখাতে শিশু একাডেমীতে ভর্তি করিয়ে দিলো। এই ছোট শিশুটিকে তার বাবা সপ্তাহে যে দুদিন ক্লাস থাকে, তার প্রতিদিন-ই বাড়ি থেকে প্রায় ১৩ কিলোমিটার দূরে ক্লাস করাতে নিয়ে যেতো। কিন্তু একদিন কে যেনও বলেছিলও, ছবি আঁকা বড় ধরণের পাপ। 

আস্তে আস্তে ছেলেটি শৈশব থেকে কৈশোরে পোঁছাল। এখন সে ধর্মীয় বিধানগুলো কিছুটা বুঝতে শুরু করলো। ফলে এটাকে ( ছবি আঁকাকে ) সে একটি অন্যায় হিসেবে দেখতে শুরু করলো। আর আস্তে আস্তে ছবি আঁকার অভ্যাস ছেড়েও দিলো। 

একবার সাঁতার কাটা শিখে ফেললে আর অনুশীলন না করলেও চলে এটা ঠিক। কিন্তু যে তার পছন্দের কাজে লেগে থাকে, সে প্রতিনিয়ত সে বিষয়ে নতুন কলাকৌশল শিখার সৌভাগ্য অর্জন করতে পারে। ফলে সে বিষয়ে সে আরও অভিজ্ঞ হয়ে অন্যদেরকে ছাড়িয়ে যেতে পারে। যেকোনো কাজের ক্ষেত্রেই একই ঘটনা ঘটে। একবার ভালোভাবে টাইপিং শিখার পর, অনেকদিন বিরতি দিয়ে আবার শুরু করে দেখুন। পার্থক্যটা নিজেই বুঝতে পারবেন।
